Chinese Food Galore

I reckon Papa E could not get over the fact that I went out for Chinese with my friends last Friday.  He ordered Chinese takeaway for himself and Poj that evening but was still craving it the next day.

Salty Pork and Black Egg Congee
And to get it done with, we went to Dragon Palace, a Chinese restaurant in the heart of Southampton City Centre.  I didn't take any pictures of the restaurant as it looked dated and in need of a lot of updating.  The only reason a lot of people come here is the food, and I suppose that's good enough for us too.

So even if I felt that I ate for England with the amount of food that we consumed the previous night, I agreed to have lunch here and these are what we ordered:

  Fish Cake

Rice Pasta Roll with Prawn

Vietnam Roll

Pork Sio Mai

The food were delish as we expected and way better than the pictures. The service was quick too and the staff were attentive. The only problem was that the waitresses are Chinese and their English are not great - so communication was a bit of a problem. But we got all of our orders in the end so all is forgiven, lol =)

I have made sure that Papa E left the restaurant fully satisfied and happy coz I told him not to cook Chinese again for a while. But to my surprise we had left overs that were lovingly put into take away boxes which we had for DINNER! Kaloka! Umay and sawa to the max! Ibang mainggit si Papa E, maybe the next time my friends and I go for Chinese I'll just tell him we only went to a Pub, hehe =)

  2. Naalala ko nanaman ang Congee, the last time I got sick, yun ang palagi kong kinakain. susme halos isumpa ko din siya, hahaha, pero  masarap naman siya wag lang maraming century egg, na sobrang linamnam.

Good idea sis, or better yet tell him kumain kayo sa isang place na gusto mong kainan para dun kayo punta hehehe (bad ko). Ibang mainggit si Papa E.

Oh no sis. Ang lungkot naman ng walang dimsum =(
Dati din wala dito kaya nakakapagdimsum lang kami when we go to London. So glad they opened one here. Oks naman ang mga Chinese waitresses kaso ang problem minsan pag may tinanong ka or nagadd ka ng order di masyado maintindihan. Pero it was all sorted in the end and we left as happy customers =)

  20. Sis, the fish cake looks interesting. :D I haven't tried fish cake before.  I'm also curious with the rice pasta roll with prawn! How does it taste like?

Masarap naman sila pareho. Yung iba pag fish cake may potato na kasama para mabuo, you can use different fish for this. But I think they used flour with this one pero its the herbs and spices that they added that made this extra special =)
Yung rice pasta roll, yung texture nya parang sa dumplings or gyoza pero softer lang and mas manipis. Masarap yung prawns in contrast sa neutral na lasa nung wrap then syempre dapat masarap yung sauce to bind the dish together.
